Tips to Wear and Care for a Lockshank

Occasionally, we all need a little help adjusting to something new. Here are a few tips to share with your customer for putting on and taking off their new Lockshank successfully.

Open Lockshank from a closed position by lifting the locking arm with a finger

nail, pen or small screwdriver.

With the Lockshank open, place the ring on the finger behind the knuckle in the

approximate resting place.

Turn ring so the top of the ring is off to the side or on the bottom. Use the thumb to help hold the ring in place. Now customer can see the mechanism.

Close the receiving arm first until it touches the other side of ring. Followed by the locking arm which seats in the receiving arm. The locking pin will lock/click into the hole in the receiving arm.

* Emphasize the importance of closing the receiving arm completely before closing the locking arm. This will keep locking arm in its correct shape and locking securely.

To take a Lockshank off, turn ring over so the top of the ring is either to the side or on the bottom of the finger. This way customer can see the mechanism.

Using customer's preferred method (finger nail, pen or small screwdriver) lift the locking arm, open the receiving arm and remove the ring.
